Phoenix Art Space is inviting Expressions of Interest from local catering businesses and social enterprises to take over the management and operation of our café space. We are looking for a partner who aligns with our vision, mission, and values—an operator who can provide a high-quality food and drink offer while contributing to our vibrant creative community.

About the Opportunity

• Visitors to our Main Gallery, which hosts five exhibitions annually, with events attracting between 200–400 guests.
• The annual Open Studios event, drawing 2,500 visitors.
• Attendees of our adult courses, family workshops, and youth programmes.
• 120+ studio members, offering an untapped food and beverage opportunity.
• A regular footfall of students from the Universities of Brighton and Sussex.

• A central service area with counter bar, shelving, and storage.
• Two entrances, allowing it to operate both as part of Phoenix and as an independent café.
• Two seating areas, accommodating up to 46 guests.

What We’re Looking For

• Provide a high-quality, seasonal food and drink menu.
• Operate seven days a week (9am-5pm).
• Supply kitchen and catering equipment for their service.
• Manage their own staff and operate as a Living Wage employer.
• Collaborate with Phoenix Art Space on events, creative programming, and evening offers. Evidence of experience managing a café/bar/restaurant/catering business
• Demonstrates a track record of finance management, including a current set of accounts relative to this Expression of Interest.

• Critical date: Open Studios weekend, 16-18 May
• Full café Operation: Subject to legals, we would consider an initial trial period before implementation
