Monoprint Day
Monoprinting is a printmaking process that produces unique, one-off images. We will explore a range of techniques, including the direct, object, and subtraction methods. Working on sheets of glass or plastic, we will use rollers, rags, cotton buds, pencils, and pens to create images. Objects such as leaves and feathers can also be rolled into the ink to capture their texture and shape.
We will work with both black and coloured printing inks on a variety of papers, and everyone will have the opportunity to use the printing press. These techniques are straightforward and can easily be repeated at home or in your studio.
Suitable for all levels including artists and complete beginners. No experience necessary.
All materials provided but students are encouraged to bring their own images to work from, such as drawings or photographs. There will also be images and objects to inspire you in the studio. Please wear old clothes as printing can be messy.
Feedback from previous student: Rachel is an excellent teacher, engaging and resourceful, her long experience as an artist and printmaker was very helpful in enabling my learning.
