ABOUT
For National Grief Awareness Week 2025, Brass Bathtub presents Unspoken Sorrows — an exhibition of paintings by Nu McAdam and installation by guest artist Mary DeLiso of the Brighton Death Collective.
The exhibition marks the culmination of a two-year, UK-wide disability arts project led by McAdam, a quadriplegic mouth painter exploring grief, healing, and creative expression. Developed through peer exchanges, creative workshops, and discussions on death, loss and grief, the project brings together multidisciplinary works and contributions from disabled participants across the UK.
Unspoken Sorrows offers a powerful, disability-led perspective on how art can transform grief into connection and collective reflection.
Nu McAdam is a trans masculine, non-binary, and autistic artist whose vibrant and reflective work explores themes of grief, disability, and identity. Drawing from lived experiences of medical trauma and loss, Nu transforms personal histories into bold, colourful expressions that challenge societal perceptions of difference.
Mary DeLiso is a self-taught, multidisciplinary artist rooted in participatory practice, often working with textiles and installation to communicate themes of grief, death, and gentleness.
