Project Space: Everything in Their Eyes

Exhibition

ABOUT

‘Everything in Their Eyes’ is an exhibition to celebrate Brighton’s enduring bond with Bhopal, illuminating the appalling, inspiring story of the world’s worst industrial disaster, the 1984 Union Carbide gas tragedy. For 40 years cast into a toxic wilderness, some of the poorest people on earth, sick, living on the edge of hunger, without funds, wealthy friends or influence, have been fighting for their lives against one of America’s richest corporations. This is a story told through their eyes.

The exhibition will feature iconic photographs from Bhopal by world renowned photographers including Ragu Rai, as well as printed copies of The Bhopal Medical Appeal’s ground-breaking print advertising campaigns. These will be combined with photographs and materials direct from the Sambhavna and Chingari clinics, as well as original artwork by local artists, creating a rich visual story of the full 40-year history of the gas and water disasters, the struggle and incredible determination of the survivors, and the charity’s own work to aid them in their healing. This is an event not to be missed!
