Matthew and Michelle will be discussing Michelle’s current exhibition, In Plane Sight, which is a series of paintings about militarism, environmental degradation and the human yearning for peace. They will also explore Michelle’s experience of the Turps Hastings programme and how this helped to shift the way she works.

Matthew Burrows MBE is a contemporary British painter, a course leader of TURPS Hastings, and founder and director of Artist Support Pledge – a global movement that supports artists and makers. Matthew lives and works in East Sussex and is represented by Vigo Gallery in London.

Michelle Cobbin is a contemporary painter based at Phoenix Art Space in Brighton. She has recently completed two years on the Turps Hastings painting programme, which has resulted in her pushing her practice in a new direction.
