ABOUT
Drift Tide Form
Drift Tide Form is a group exhibition bringing together ceramic artist and tutor Annie Lyle and a group of Brighton-based ceramicists connected through her studio practice at Ula Ceramics. Annie is proud to be exhibiting alongside artists she has taught and worked with over time, and this exhibition marks the first time the group is showing work together.
Artists exhibiting in Drift Tide Form include Annie Lyle, Emma Capron, Yasha Gosrani, Lucy Graubart, Stephanie Habib, Zakkiya Khan, Rebecca Mwanja, and Emma Troy. While each artist brings a distinct voice and practice, the exhibition is united by an intuitive, hand-built approach to clay. Working slowly and attentively, the artists allow form to emerge through touch, rhythm, and responsiveness to the material.
Visitors can expect a varied body of sculptural and functional ceramic work. The pieces explore movement and stillness, erosion and containment, body, landscape, migration, memory, and belonging. Many draw on the rhythms of the sea and the land, considering how clay can hold both fragility and strength, quiet and change. Together, the works offer a tactile encounter with clay as a living, responsive material shaped through time, presence, and making.
