Introduction to Sculpture with Clay

Ember Vincent
£180

Discover the possibilities of clay as you design and create your own unique sculpture.

This six-week course offers an introduction to a range of techniques used to create sculptural, three-dimensional forms in clay. Open to all levels, from complete beginners to those with experience who would like to explore new ways of working, the course will guide you through developing your own ideas, from figurative and architectural forms to more abstract designs.

In the first few weeks you’ll learn key techniques including coiling, slab building, carving from a solid form and hollowing out. You can then choose to focus on creating one larger sculpture or develop several smaller pieces as your ideas evolve.

Embers classes are warm, relaxed and fun, allowing participants to explore their creativity alongside a supportive backbone of expert guidance, ensuring that visions are fulfilled and the full potential of clay is explored.

Pieces will be fired at the end of the course and there will be options to glaze finished sculptures.

Attendees from previous sculpture courses are welcome to attend and work on their own projects with guided support.
