ABOUT

Clear Canvas – an exhibition of work by artists in recovery.

Bringing together artists whose experiences of recovery have shaped their creative vision, Clear Canvas presents a dialogue between vulnerability and strength. Through colour, texture and form, the works on display embody the resilience of the human spirit and the ongoing pursuit of clarity amid complexity.

With it’s roots in Art-ernoon; a weekly art group at Brighton’s Kennedy Street Recovery Hub, Clear Canvas was devised and is curated by Hub volunteer Daniel Good to broaden our support for artists leading a sober lifestyle. Generous help from our funder, Enjoolata Foundation, has made possible the call out for and assembly of this new collective of artists in recovery. As we support our clients on their individual recovery pathways, we have found that creativity can be a powerful tool.

Featuring diverse works from nineteen artists, all at different stages of their creative practice, the exhibition celebrates recovery through art and tells often complex stories of the artists’ experience, strength and hope.
