White Room
Spotlight with Nadine Feinson and Geoff Hands
- Tuesday 28 October 2025
- 18:00 – 20:30
ABOUT
Spotlight is a strand of regular talks by artists at Phoenix Art Space. It enables Phoenix studio members to share their work/practice with the Phoenix community (fellow artists and friends) in an informal setting. This October we welcome two artists whose work is grounded in painting but also extends beyond this medium to encompass collaboration with other artists and artforms.
Nadine’s practice spans painting, installation, performance and moving image. Her work is rooted in a deep fascination with what lies beyond consciousness and a concern for the body as porous, interconnected and attuned to others, human or otherwise. Working often in monochrome, she navigates the liminal space between light and dark, a threshold where perception and imagination converge and the dormant awakens.
Geoff has a keen interest in psychogeographical drawing and how it evolves into studio-based practice. His works are typically abstract, gestural, and richly coloured, while maintaining connections to landscape. He is particularly engaged with developing an abstract visual language grounded in both observation and memory, and shaped by improvisation as well as the material qualities of paint. In a recent project, he collaborated with composer Tobias Wheal to explore the intersections of sound, place, and improvisation.
