Composer Tobias Wheal and artist Geoff Hands began collaborating in 2023, exploring connections between music, drawing, and text. Their first shared project grew from a drawing walk on Highdown Hill, where Geoff’s sketches and Tobias’s writings evolved into a concertina book, later used as a musical score.

This exchange of sound and image has since expanded through studio-based paintings, collage, video, and composition, forming an open-ended creative dialogue. The title Itinerarium (from the Latin for journey) reflects both the recording of their Highdown walk and the ongoing pathways of their collaboration.

Presented in Phoenix’s Project Space, ITINERARIUM: Pathways is part installation, part working studio – a space where music and visual art intertwine, and the journey remains deliberately unfinished.
