ABOUT
Spotlight is back and you’re invited
After a successful run from 2017 to 2020, Spotlight was a much-loved part of Phoenix’s programme – a regular series of talks where artists share the ideas and inspirations behind their work. Like many in-person events, it was paused during the pandemic but we’re delighted to finally be bringing it back.
Each Spotlight event features two artists in conversation offering insight into their practice in an informal welcoming setting, with a glass of wine to hand.
To kick off this new chapter we’re showcasing the work of Michelle Abbott and Patrick O’Donnell, two artists exploring the concept of space through both two- and three-dimensional media.
Michelle Abbott uses thread as both a drawing and sculptural material. Her current series explores the dynamics of human relationships, the history of tailoring in London’s East End and non-objective aesthetics.
Patrick O’Donnell investigates the transition between real and metaphorically constructed space. His recent work draws from his immediate surroundings—domestic environments and places of personal significance—creating evocative layered responses to the spaces we inhabit.
Join us for a thoughtful evening of conversation creativity and connection.
