Phoenix Art space will always stand in solidarity with our trans community
Brighton & Hove is a city known for its inclusivity, generosity, and kindness — values that Phoenix proudly shares. As a visual arts charity rooted here, we are committed to being a welcoming space that reflects and respects the full diversity of our communities.
In light of the recent UK Supreme Court ruling, we want to reaffirm our support for our trans, non-binary, and intersex staff, artists, audiences, teachers, producers, and participants. To everyone we engage with — you are welcome here.
We remain committed to ensuring that everyone can use the toilets that best align with their identity. At Phoenix, this includes providing gender-neutral options. We recognise that people come to these conversations with a range of experiences, needs, and perspectives, and we aim to offer inclusive choices that reflect that.
Phoenix is proud to stand alongside other arts and cultural organisations in writing to the Equality and Human Rights Commission to ask them to consult meaningfully with trans, non-binary, and intersex communities before proposing or implementing any legislation that may impact them.
