This opportunity is now closed.

We are inviting applications from artists who would be interested in using our Main Gallery as a shared studio space for a period of six weeks – January to February 2023.

We will be selecting up to 4 artists to make use of the space. Two person collaborations are welcome. This studio opportunity provides an open plan, clean space with good natural light, 24-hour access and free Wi-Fi (please note that this is a shared network and may not be suitable for downloading of large files, streaming etc).

We welcome artists working in any medium whose practice would be compatible with working in a shared communal environment.

The Space

The Main Gallery can divide into three main areas, (each approx. 30 sqm).  We also have one annexe space available, sited at the back of the gallery (approx. 22 sqm) with open access to the Main Gallery and some natural light.

Support

  • Our Studio Manager works at Phoenix Art Space two days/week (Monday and Wednesday) and provides support to all of our artists, including our studio programme artists.
  • Other members of our Team (Exhibitions, Marketing, Building, Learning and Community Engagement) are also available for support and/or conversations.

Opportunities
 (optional)

  • Studio Visit with Phoenix Executive Director
  • 10% discount on food and drink in the Canvas Café
  • An Instagram takeover for a 1-week period each documenting their Phoenix experience
  • Evening social with Phoenix Art Space Studio Members and Team

Open to the Public

The Main Gallery would be open to the public 11am – 5pm  on Friday 20th, 27th January, 3rd, 10th February and on the evening of Friday 17th February to showcase work (in progress). This would take the form of an Open Studio rather than a curated exhibition. Participating artists are also welcome to invite other artists and arts professionals to see their work outside of these times, subject to agreement with the other participants.

Access

Our Main Gallery is situated on our Ground Floor, which is wheelchair accessible, with entry via a ramp to the left of the Main Entrance. The entire ground floor is level apart from a slight ramp leading into the main gallery.

The galleries, workshop rooms, café and toilets are situated on the ground floor with wheelchair access. Unfortunately, our upper floor studios and office are only accessible by stairs.
