New Courses for the autumn term
The autumn term at Phoenix Art Space kicks off this September. Explore your creative side with a variety of painting, print, sculpture or making courses, programmed for both complete beginners and those with more experience.
We’ve also got some new courses this term which we’re very excited about –
Build a Greek Vase in One Day
During this one day course, you will learn how to make a Greek vase from the beginning to end. You will be introduced to hand-building techniques and we will use them to create the structure and form.
Sunday 9 October or Sunday 13 November
Accessible Photography
This course will transform your skills from just taking a photo to creating an image and reshaping how you see things. Throughout the six sessions, you will use your smart phone to explore photographing different objects; learn how to compose and edit your images on your phone; and use artistic research to guide your image making.
10 October – 21 November
Introduction to Upholstery
Using a combination of modern and traditional materials and techniques, you will learn how to build a footstool from the frame upwards, taking your finished piece home with you at the end of the day.
Saturday 15 October or Saturday 5 November
Sculpture: Assemblage
You will be introduced to the concept of ‘Assemblage’ as an art movement in which you can participate, as well as a method of making art for yourself.
Saturday 22 – Sunday 23 October
Pen and Wash
You will learn traditional and experimental techniques and explore application, line, colour and materials.
Saturday 29 – Sunday 30 October
Gelli Printing
Gelli Printing is a fun, quick and effective way to produce unique monotype prints using acrylic paint and a silicone press.
Thursday 24 November
Nature’s Palette: Festive Furoshiki
make beautiful natural blues and botanical patterns on cloth using indigo resist dye technique Shibori, bundle dyeing and ‘hap zome’ or flower pounding.
